The Project
Blended : Bristol is a collaborative music project involving a number of producers in and around the Bristol and South West area. It’s a truly innovative way of bringing together artists from differing musical backgrounds to produce a single piece of music that experiments with the concepts of remote improvisation and random loop triggering.
Each artist has been given a number of simple musical rules as inspiration for the creation of music/tones/sounds/loops... these have then been performed as a single piece of music using improvisation and random loop triggering.
This is the first edition of an ever evolving project where we’ll be inviting more and more artists to get involved and create truly original music and sound works.

Kayla Painter
Kayla Painter is a composer, producer and sound artist who works closely with visuals in her live and recorded work. Kayla is signed to the acclaimed indie label Turnstile Music and has had several single releases with them to date. Prior to signing to Turnstile Music Kayla had self released two EPs; Kayla Painter (self titled) and A Very New Everything. Live, her dual screen show has become well known across the South West. This collaborative performance is between Kayla and visual artist Jason Baker. The show consists of independent projections in front of and behind Kayla, creating a beautiful immersive depth to the visuals.

Dawn Chorus Ignites
Dawn Chorus Ignites have been involved in making music with Prima Rosa from for a number of years and have released three studio projects on this label over recent years. Their atmospheric instrumental guitar based music made them an ideal match for the project, founder members Mat Cook and Ben Philcox keen to blend some of their guitar based instrumental music with other producers in Bristol and beyond.

Musician and producer based in Devon. Recent works include producing John Matthias’ Geisterfahrer, and co-writing the score for Stanley Donwoods and Mat Consume's 'Broadmead' film premiered at Bristols Festival of Apathy. An album due Sept 2016 for Village Green, a series of acoustically rich improvisations exploring space as a method of composition, smashed together digitally to form dense tapestries of splinted reverberation, rhythm and melody.

Nick Lawson
Nick Lawson is a DJ and electronic music producer based in Bristol. Mainly operating within the realms of deep house and techno, he has released on a number of UK-based and international labels including physical releases on the likes of Boe Recordings, Star Dub, Visionquest, Fear of Flying and Morris Audio. Nick has also worked with fellow producer Matthew Burton on a number of productions and events, including Matthew’s own imprint, Shifted Flow, and joint venture, Busta Groove, which saw them hold regular events in Berlin, London and Nottingham. His production sound is understated, veering more towards the deeper and dubbier end of the house and techno spectrum.

Ping
Works on a variety of forms of art practices which is related to sound; sound installation, film music composing, and experimental sound and electroacoustic live performance. He keeps focused on the sound that exists in daily life for ideas of composing music, exploring the development of sound from these experiences. By observing the physical sounds in the environment and analyzing the sound by digital processes, he has continued to broaden the “vision” of sound which is translated or replace between natural and artificial by new media. Ping is currently on exchange at Bath Spa university from the New Media Art in Taipei National University of the Art.

Gatekeeper
Gatekeeper had his first 12", titled “Tomb”, released on the now legendary Skull Disco label, which was a collaboration with legendary producer/DJ Appleblim. Since then he has gone on to release a string of 12" singles across labels including Applepips, If Symptoms Persist and Peverelist’s Punch Drunk label. He had a track featured on Soul Jazz compilation Steppas’ Delight and a collaboration with Komonazmuk titled “Cheeky Herbert” featured on Tempa’s Dubstep Allstars 6, mixed by Appleblim.
